Ireland’s story is an amazingly dramatic and intense one – and today the influence of Irish culture can be felt far and wide with great Irish influence being historically evident in Australia. This workshop will look at
- · When and how Ireland became Celtic
- · Why Ireland and Britain’s relationship is so complex
- · How Irish culture has evolved
- · The global impact of Irish migration
- · Northern Ireland’s rocky road to peace
- · The history of the Irish in Australia
- · Profile prominent figures like Brian Boru, Wolfe Tone, Daniel O’Connell, Eamon De Valera, Michael Collins and WB Yeats.
We will also look at the funnier side of Irish Culture – the
craic (fun). From shamrocks to shillelaghs, come and visit and
land of saints and scholars and find out how the Irish influenced Australia and
how the two countries are inherently linked.
It’s not all about Ned Kelly!
